Before you quote an EV charger or heat pump
Clamp a Shelly meter on the tails and leave a logging session running for a week. You get the property's real peak demand, with times, to back up your maximum-demand assessment and your conversation with the customer about load management. It supports your assessment and the DNO process; it doesn't replace them.
Chasing nuisance trips
Log the current on the suspect circuit and line the trips up against what was running at the time. A power meter won't see earth leakage, but knowing that the RCD went every time the immersion and the washing machine overlapped narrows things down fast.
Commissioning solar and batteries
Record a session at handover and leave a branded report in the handover pack, next to your certificates, showing the system performing on day one. It's also a baseline if performance is questioned later.
Aftercare without the drive
"It's stopped working" often turns out to be a new router, a changed Wi-Fi password or a tripped breaker. Check the live state before you set off - and turn up with the right parts when it really is a fault.
